A federal grand jury has indicted a former Leavenworth inmate in the 2003 killing of another inmate, the United State's Attorney's Office announced Friday.

The former school leader in Abilene and Lindsborg, Kan., will become the next superintendent of the 27,000-student Olathe School District on July 1. Marlin Berry, the district's assistant superintendent for general administration, was selected Thursday by the school board to succeed the current superintendent, Pat All, when she retires next year.
